Forks Down · Getting Started

How to Set Up Your Kitchen,
Step by Step

Sell plates like a pro — no restaurant needed.

Forks Down is for people who sell food without a restaurant — home cooks, food trucks, meal-prep sellers, and anybody tired of taking orders through DMs, texts, and comments. This page walks you through the whole setup, one step at a time. It takes most people about 30 to 45 minutes.

First, pick your door

Every seller ends up in the same place: a real menu page, your own order link and QR code, and orders you can actually track. How you get there is your choice.

Door 1 — Do It Yourself

Free to set up

Follow the steps on this page, top to bottom. Everything you need is in the app, and each step below tells you exactly what to tap.

  • Work at your own pace
  • Ask Remy inside the app any time you get stuck
  • Your subscription is $29.99/mo either way
Done for you

Door 2 — We Set It Up

$99 one time

Book a Forks Down Setup and Remy builds your kitchen with you on a short call. You just cook — we do the typing.

  • Your menu typed in for you — at your prices, up to 20 dishes
  • Your QR code and order link, live before the call ends
  • A printed bag-card file for your orders
  • A practice order together, so you see exactly how it works
  • A check-in one week later to make sure you’re rolling

Either door: your plan is $29.99/month, everything included. Plus 75¢ per order and $2.00 per catering job, billed monthly. No free tier, no surprises.

The setup, step by step

1

Create your account

Tap Sign Up and enter your name, email, and a password. That’s your kitchen’s front door — you’ll use it on your phone or a computer.

Use an email you actually check. Your order alerts and customer messages connect to it.

2

Name your kitchen

Give your shop its name — the name your customers already know you by. Add your city and your phone number. This is what shows on your order page.

Keep the name the same as your social media pages, so regulars recognize you instantly.

3

Pick your side of the kitchen

Choose what you sell: Food, Desserts & Sweets, or Ice Cream. Each side is its own complete workspace, with its own menu, its own QR code, and its own orders. Sell food and desserts? You get both sides — each dish lives on its own side.

4

Add your first dish

Tap Add Dish. Type the dish name, write a short description in your own words, and set your price. Nobody sets your prices but you.

A photo sells the plate. Tap the photo spot and use the best picture you’ve got — the one that makes people hungry.

5

Tell us how it sells

Under each dish, tap how you sell it: per plate, per pound, by the dozen, half pan, full pan, by the quart — however you really sell it. Your order page shows the unit right beside the price, so customers know exactly what they’re getting.

6

Build out the full menu

Keep adding dishes the same way until your whole menu is on the page. Start with your best sellers — you can add, change, or hide a dish any time, in seconds.

Short on ideas? Open the Food Guide inside the app. Any guide recipe can land on your menu with one tap — at a price you name.

7

Set how customers pay you

In Settings, put in the payment apps you already use — Cash App, Zelle, or PayPal. Customers pay you directly on your order page: half now or in full. You confirm the payment, then you cook. Your money never sits with us.

8

Start your plan

When your menu looks right, start your subscription so your order page goes live for real orders.

$29.99/month — one price, everything included: your kitchen, your menu page, your order link and QR code, and texting with your customers inside the app.

Plus 75¢ per order and $2.00 per catering job, billed once a month. That’s the whole price sheet — nothing hidden.

9

Grab your QR code and order link

Your kitchen gets its own order link and its own QR code. That’s the only thing a customer needs — they scan or tap, see your menu, and order. No app for them to download, no account for them to make.

Print the bag card with your QR code and drop one in every bag. Every plate you sell becomes your next order.

10

Share it everywhere

Post your link where your people already are — your Facebook, your Instagram bio, your TikTok, a text to your regulars. From now on, every post ends the same way: “Order here.”

This is the whole point: stop taking orders in your DMs. Send everybody to the link, every time.

11

Run your first order

Here’s what happens when somebody orders: the order lands in your app with the customer’s name, phone, and email — saved to your customer list automatically. You confirm their payment, cook, and mark the order done. The customer gets updates, and you’ve got a record of every sale.

Practice first: place a test order on your own page, from a second phone if you can, and watch it come in. That’s exactly what we do together on a Setup call.

12

Keep every customer conversation in one place

Customers can message you inside the app, on the order itself — and you answer there too. No more hunting through three phones and four inboxes to find who asked for extra sauce. Your orders, your messages, and your customer list all live in one spot, and your order history doubles as your books at tax time.

Two more things you get

Catering, on a calendar. Catering bookings land on a real calendar in the app, so a wedding three weeks out never collides with a Saturday plate sale. Catering jobs are $2.00 each, billed monthly.

Remy, your in-app help. There’s a button named Remy inside the app. Ask it to help write a dish description, a post to share your link, or a price check on a plate. It works off a simple meter shown right in the app, and if you ever use up the month’s help, only the helper pauses — your kitchen never does.

Ready when you are

Setting up yourself?

You’ve got the whole map on this page. Start at Step 1 and work down — most kitchens are live inside an hour.
